Christopher Chou Slomiak, raised in Brookline, MA and Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia is a hotelier, cat-enthusiast, GOT and Anime nerd, and American writer of Taiwanese and Polish descent. After completing his English Education degree at Boston University, he became a hotelier by day and writer by night. His first short story, “Untouchable,” won Heart and Mind Zine’s Judge’s Choice Award. His second, “Naked Barbie,” was selected as the opening piece to Sound & Literary Art Book’s 12th annual edition. Both stories went on to be quarter-finalists in ScreenCraft’s Cinematic Short Story Contest and were republished in Sound & Literary Art Book’s “Best of SLAB” 15th edition.
Although Chris began his career in prose, he added screenwriting to his craft when a filmmaker contacted him about adapting one of his short stories. Chris’ first TV pilot, SOCIETY OF STRAYS, placed in the Quarterfinals of ScreenCraft’s TV Pilot Contest, the Semi-finals of WeScreenplay’s Diverse Voices Contest, the Quarterfinals of Los Angeles International’s Screenplay Awards, a top-20 Finalist (out of over 1300 entries) in ScreenCraft’s Action & Adventure Contest, and currently a top-30 Finalist in the Script2Comic Contest. The pilot also received a “Recommend” rating from ScreenCraft’s coverage service, is on Coverfly’s Redlist (top 5% of projects), and was an Official Selection for Coverfly’s Pitch Week.
